Comparative questions are added as an extra in the features available through ConverSight. In the Webchat page, you can ask a query, like "compare the revenues of this year and last year by the line item." Insights will give you an answer for the same query and additionally it will show you the query related questions. For example, "compare the revenue from this year versus last year by the supplier" and "compare the tax this year versus last year by the line item."
Click the report chart, you will get an additional report.
Ask by Voice
The query search bar in the chat window has a microphone symbol, which you can use to verbally ask your query.
Once the voice icon is clicked on, it starts listening to your queries, and you will receive the results either by table or chart.
As soon as you begin typing in the search bar, ConverSight suggests some search terms, and you can use these suggestions to find what you’re looking for.
You can see an answer in the form of a chart or a table. If you do not see an answer, press enter on your keyboard.
What kinds of things can I ask?
A query is based on the tables that exist in your data. The tables are made of rows and columns, just like spreadsheets, so you can search by typing in any of these words:
The column name, like revenue, product name, or sales
Any of the values in the columns: Product ID, Amount, or Year.
In a webchat window, the queries column can have question mark (?) symbol.
The Question bank has 3 buttons: State Details, Test, FAQ’s.
State Details
In the state details section, you can search or select questions to get any answers you want from the Question Bank.
Test
Click on the Test button to view the completed task query.
The Knowledge Graph lists all the table and column sources available to you. There are 3 headers inside the Knowledge Graph window, and are called table_name, column_name, and vocabulary. You should see only admin uploaded sources. These are the most commonly used data sources for searching.
You can search the vocabularies, tables, and column names. Click on Knowledge Graph, the search bar is available on top of the window.
In the object_name drop down list, you can view the lists of object names.
You can view the lists of column names in the properties_name drop down list.
To do so, click on the filter icon, and select the values from the drop-down dialog box. Column_name can be select from the drop down list.
You can categorize the number, string, and date.
In the vocabulary drop down list, you can view the lists of vocabulary names.
Click on the filter icon, select the values from the drop-down dialog box, and vocabulary can be select from the list.
To view your data on Excel, click on the Export to Excel button. It exports the data to a file you can open through Excel without importing the file into the application.
Using the ConverSight relational search is easy, so anyone can use it. In the webchat window, type what you are interested in exploring, for example, revenue margin by a month of this year. Searches return a set of results in the form of a table or a chart.
As you get better with ConverSight’s search, you will be able to get more out of your data by performing complex searches. There are a few basic things you should understand before starting a new ConverSight search.
In ConverSight you can search 2 different ways: ask by voice or by typing it in the textbox.
Search by Text
In the text box, you can simply type your query and hit enter.
Before you start a new query search, make sure you have chosen the right data set.
Searches happen in the context of the selected data set. ConverSight will also make suggestions from other data sources for you if what you’re typing can’t be found in the selected data source.
Search suggestions include complete recent searches that are similar to the search you are fabricating.
Search suggestions are relevant to the data and are personalized to your search behavior. ConverSight learns over time what columns are most important to you and your company as a whole. It then uses this knowledge to rank the search terms it offers.
ConverSight keeps usage statistics on the frequency of search terms in its local cache. If you frequently use type terms related to finance or to a particular product, ConverSight provides you with related suggestions more frequently. Using this information, frequently used terms and phrases are offered in search of suggestions more often than those that are not commonly used.
For example, if you look for "type of sales" a lot, you will get more suggestions related to it and it's easy to predict your search.
Context Text Queries are the parts of our queries and asked the questions to follow the query.
For example, if you ask for the revenue by the year, you will get revenue by year.
Did you Mean features are mainly useful for instances where spelling mistakes occur. It will show you the suggestions, and you can select the query, hit enter, and continue to ask the query.
When you ask a query, the query related questions will show up in the suggestions section. For example, if you search for revenue, its related questions will show up, such as revenue within the quarter and etc.
A drill-down report is a report that allows users to navigate to a different layer of data granularity by navigating and clicking a specific data element on a web page or in an application. Drill down allows users to explore multidimensional data by navigating from high level information to a more detailed look.
For example, when you search "compare last year's revenue with this year's", you will get a chart with the correct information based on the data provided. If you would like to see more about just one year, click the dot point on the year of your choice, and it will move to an in-depth explanation of the year you want, like Quarter Q1 or Q2.
Click on plot point in January Q1, and it will then move to the next in-depth level report.
You will get a detailed weekly report of January 2020.
Filters narrow down your search result to only include the data you want to see.
When you add values to your search, it becomes a filter. You can define filters on your tables, views, and worksheets. When you add a filter, it is applied to the table, view, or worksheet, so the result set only shows rows that satisfy a set of parameters specified in the filter. You can also set filters that are automatically used in every search you perform using a particular data source.
To add a filter from the queries, click in the queries, and type the value or values you want to include in the search. Typing a value in the search bar acts as a filter.
Click outside of the search bar or press enter to apply your filter.
Simple filters can be applied to an answer, while pinboard filters can be applied to all visualizations of a pinboard. You can find out more about pinboard filters in the pinboards section.
As you have seen with search, filters appear in the right corner.
In an answer or a pinboard, filters appear with the title. For pinboards, your filters apply to all worksheet-based visualizations in the pinboard.
You can select the filter in the specific Column name and search it.
Note: Filtering on NULL and empty values is a special case. You can find out more about how these values are represented and how to filter for them in "About Filtering on Null, Blank, or Empty Values."
In the webchat page, filters are used to search for a particular period. You can add a particular period and filter and save it. Furthermore, your queries will be based on the particular selected period and is not required to be asked repeatedly. For example, when you search Revenue in 2018, filter and select the checked box. This information will be saved, and for your queries, the answer will come from 2018, based on your selected values.
Annotation is a note by way of explanation or comments added to a text in a diagram or chart.
Click on the Annotate button and type your comments. These comments will be saved.
Charts visually display your search answer. Your search needs at least one attribute and one measure to be presented as a chart. When you choose to display your answer as a chart, ConverSight will assign it to the best fit chart type.
For example, when searching for comparing sales of this year and last year by cusid, each year will keep its color assigned to it even if you change the search or chart type.
You can choose from a large number of chart types in ConverSight. Each chart type provides you with a different visualization for your answer.
You can also zoom in and zoom out to view the chart comfortably, and you can also Pinboard or Share the Chart.
You can choose from a large number of chart types in ConverSight. Each chart type provides you with a different visualization for your answer.
To change the chart type of your answer, click and select the charts which you like to get a palette of chart types you can choose.
Note: Some chart types may not be available, depending on the columns in your search. For example, if your search does not contain at least one geographical column, then you will not be able to select any of the geo chart types. ConverSight shows unavailable chart types as grayed out.
Hovering over a chart type icon tells you what columns you require before you can use it.
Area Charts: The area chart is based on the line chart but has filled in regions.
Funnel Charts: The funnel chart shows a process with progressively decreasing proportions amounting to 100 percent in total.
Pie Charts: The pie chart is a classic chart type that displays your search in a circle. The pie chart ConverSight shows are in the shape of a doughnut.
Donut charts: Donut charts show a flow from one set of values to another, usually with visual emphasis (brighter colors or larger bandwidths) for comparison of the values (ex., top cities in terms of sales might be emphasized).
Column Charts: The column chart is one of ConverSight’s simplest, yet most versatile chart types. The column chart is often the chosen default chart type and displays data as vertical columns.
Bar Charts: The bar chart is nearly identical to the column chart. The primary difference is that it displays data as horizontal bars.
Line Charts: Like the column chart, the line chart is one of ConverSight’s simplest, yet most versatile chart types. More often than not the line chart will be chosen as your default chart type.
Geo Charts: These three geo charts let you visualize geographical data in ConverSight: Area, Bubble, and Heatmap.
Table: The table is the main advantages of your report, you can set the table header name by row and column. You can filter the header name and drag a column and can view the filtered column.
Pivot Tables: Pivot tables in ConverSight use the well-known drag-and-drop interface. Creating a pivot table enables exploring alternate visualization of data in a wide table. The basic idea is that some data is easier to consume when laid out horizontally, while others, vertically.
Understand Area Charts
The area chart is based on the line chart but has filled in regions.
Area charts display quantitative data graphically. The area between the x-axis and the line is colored in to help you compare different portions of the chart.
Your search needs at least one attribute and one measure to be represented as an area chart.
The funnel chart shows a process with progressively decreasing proportions amounting to 100 percent in total.
A funnel chart is descending and is often used to represent stages in a sales process. You can visualize the progression of data as it passes from one phase to another. Data in each of these phases are represented as different proportions.
Your search needs at least one attribute and one measure to be represented as a column chart. The attribute must contain 50 or fewer values.
A pie (or a circle) chart is a statistical graphic that divides data into slices to illustrate numerical proportions. In a pie chart, the arc length of a slice is proportional to the quantity it represents.
The pie chart is a classic chart type that displays your search in a circle. The default pie chart in ConverSight displays data in the shape of a doughnut or round.
Pie charts divide your data into sections that each represent a proportion of a whole circle. You can display the exact values of each slice.
Your search needs at least one attribute and one measure to be represented as a pie chart. Also, there must be fewer than 50 values in the attribute column.
Donut chart is like a pie chart. The Donut chart is a new chart type that displays your search in a circle or ring-shaped. The default Donut chart in ConverSight displays data in the shape of a thick ring.
A column chart is the most versatile chart type. The column chart is one of ConverSight simplest, most versatile chart types. More often than not, the column chart is your default chart type.
Column charts are vertical bar charts that display your data using rectangular bars. The length of the bar is proportional to the data value.
Your search needs at least one attribute and one measure to be represented as a column chart.
The bar chart is very similar to the column chart. The only difference is that it is oriented horizontally, instead of vertically.
Bar charts display your data using horizontal rectangular bars and the length of the bar is proportional to the data value.
Your search needs at least one attribute and one measure to be represented as a bar chart.
Line charts are good at showing trends over intervals of time.
Like the column chart, the line chart is one of ConverSight’s simplest, most versatile chart type. More often than not the line chart will be chosen as your default chart type.
Line charts display your data as a series of data points connected by straight line segments. The measurement points are ordered by the x-axis value.
Your search needs at least one attribute and one measure to be represented as a line chart.
You can display the gridlines on tables. Viewing your data as a table, click on the Table icon on the top right of the insights.
The Pivot Table icon is available on the top right corner of the Insights page. You can view your sales order column report in a pivot table. The main advantage of a pivot table is you can view your reports by different types of charts and can export it as a PDF, image, or an Excel file.
Click on the Export icon, and export the pivot table where you would like. You can find the option right side of the Pivot Table Window.
Click the Question Bank icon in the dashboard query text area.
To begin a new search, you must first select your data set by clicking on the icon. You will see a list of data sets that have been shared with you. The data sets are usually created by your administrator.
For example, in a Chart report, you can see the comments icon, where you can click on the icon. You can then enter into the chart and click on the comments icon again and you will then get the details. If you like, you can also add comments to annotate.
